There are a lot of confectioners in Niigata - and they have a lot of candy shops.

What do you know, I am a sweets man! (I can't talk about anything, I specialise in eating)

I heard that there is a shop where Niigata madams go to buy Japanese sweets! I went to Sawayama, which I had been curious about for some time.

Hmm? Where is it? I can't quite place it.

We found out that it is the lower part of the old town.

As a directionless person, I set off relying on the car's navigation system!

I live in the city, but I've never been on this road before! It's in such a residential area.

Now it's time to enter the shop!

Oh, there's some delicious-looking Japanese sweets!

Which one shall I choose? Some Japanese sweets are sold out. Daifuku seems to have so many fans that it is sometimes sold out in the morning!

Daifuku and Kusamochi for now!

It looks like they've won some kind of award. And they seem to use rice from Niigata Prefecture.

There was a small eat-in corner, so we ate there.

First, take a bite from the Daifuku! Yum! What's this?

Thin crust with a dense red bean paste. After I got home, I cut the Daifuku into pieces. The bean paste is still there...

It's also good that it's not too sweet!

It overturned the conventional wisdom of the daifuku I had been eating.

Kusamochi is also delicious! Tea was available at the eat-in corner, so we drank it.

Zzzzz! Daifuku and tea in perfect harmony~!

In the meantime, customers of uncles and aunts come to the shop incessantly.

All I get are orders like, "Hmmm, ten daifuku and five kusa-mochi..."

Everyone buys a lot of souvenirs, whether they are hand-me-downs or not.

I was amazed at how amazing it was.

As for me... when I want to eat again and the customers are gone...

I eat in again by myself, asking for sasamochi and gobo dango (burdock root dumplings)!

This is delicious too! I already wanted to feed this to my family, so I bought it again as a souvenir. 'Three Daifuku and two Kusamochi.'

'And one more Daifuku separately (this is for eating again in the car [laughs])'

The shopkeeper says he wants you to eat it today.

They say that if they are put in the fridge, they become hard.

Well - I was even impressed by the taste anyway!
