At last, the time has come!
That's right. Everyone's favourite strawberry season has arrived. This time we would like to introduce Fruitland Shirane Grape Garden in Minami Ward, Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture.
The Shirane Grape Garden is very popular with couples and families, as they can enjoy around 10 different varieties of strawberries, including Niigata's pride and joy, Echigohime, as well as Tochiotome and Benihoppe.
It is grown with low pesticides and water, and has an all-you-can-eat section and a pick-and-weigh section.
It is also a great way to harvest while standing.
According to the staff here, Echigohime is a variety that is harvested relatively early for shops because it has a very high water content and if it is shipped after it has ripened, it will soon go bad. The staff here recommend this variety because it is harvested at its best when it is bright red and ripe!
Please experience the amazing sweetness and the luscious aroma of strawberries, which cannot be experienced with store-bought strawberries.
And what's more, here on weekends, a 'Fruit Pizza Making Workshop' is held. (Reservations required).
Learn about fruits, harvest them, bake fruit pizzas in an authentic lava stone oven, and then enjoy the hot, dessert-like pizzas together. It's a very luxurious experience.
The journey takes about one hour, so there is no need to worry about young children getting bored.
