It is a 20-minute walk from Niigata Station. Ateli M's (ateli M's) is located in the Minami Bandai area, about 10 minutes' walk from the Bandai area. Serving mainly handmade cupcakes and hand-drip freshly brewed coffee, the shop, which has been run by a couple since 2014, is so popular that it is fully booked on weekends!

Go straight west from Bandai City, past Tsutaya Niigata Bandai Store, and you will see ateli M's. Four parking spaces are available, one in front of the restaurant and three on the side of the building.

The exterior is a small, glass-walled shop. When we gently opened the door, we were greeted by Mrs.

The showcase is lined with colourful cupcakes. The main cupcakes here are not the usual cakes such as triangles, but cupcakes in transparent containers. They are easy to carry and can be enjoyed in parks or at the beach. You can also enjoy a delicious cake while looking out over the Shinano River at Yasuragi Tate, a few minutes' walk away.

Cupcakes are around ¥350-¥400 including tax. There are many seasonal items on the menu, so you can enjoy new cakes no matter how many times you visit. The hand-drip coffee is easy to drink, with little bitterness or acidity. If you order it with a cake, you get a 50 yen discount.

When we asked the owner, Mr Wada, what he recommended for this summer, he told us about the peach shortcake (400 yen including tax), which started on 12 July. Although it is a seasonal menu item, it is popular every year.

ateli M's offers a variety of cakes according to the season. Strawberries in spring, melons in early summer and peaches in the coming season. Cakes made with seasonal fruits are so popular that some customers keep coming back. They keep coming back again and again, wondering what fruit cakes will be available next season. and keep coming back again and again. I have never had a peach shortcake, so I promised myself that I would definitely come back when they start selling them.

We also offer mini bacon cheese pies and mini curry pies. These look good when you're feeling a little hungry!

A number of collaborations with other shops!

There are also a number of products from other shops, such as the KOUGI series, an original sundry goods brand of Abe Butsudan Seisakusho Ltd, and the matto mento hat shop, located on Nishibori Dori.

Name building blocks from KOUGI. These products can be custom-made to order and personalised with the name of the person on the block.

The owner, Mr Wada, is from Tainai City and trained at a patisserie outside the prefecture for more than 10 years. He came back to Niigata thinking that if he was going to open his own shop, he wanted it to be in Niigata Prefecture, but most of his friends from school had also left the prefecture and he didn't know many people at first. In the meantime, he connected with other shop owners in Niigata City through Twitter and Instagram. They visited the shops directly and in the course of their talks, they decided to put their products in each other's shops.

The 'hat shop matto mento' space has a range of cute hairpins and hair bands.

Currently, they distribute their baked goods to 'Hat shop matto mento' and pound cakes to 'Sea Ponit NIIGATA'. When you visit these shops, be sure to check out the ateli M's products.

Other baked goods and roasted coffee can also be purchased in the shop. The 'Gift Box', which comes in a small box, would make a good little gift.

ateli M's can be used in a variety of ways, whether as a café, to take cupcakes home and eat them outside, or to come and see the goods on sale. When visiting the Bandai area, be sure to stretch your legs and visit.

I'm sure I'll continue to return again and again for the seasonal menu.
