A 20-minute walk from Niigata Station, the Kado shoe repair & beer stop opened on 8 February 2018 as a satellite shop in the Numadari Terrace shopping arcade.
Hmm? Shoe repair and craft beer?
The combination of these two completely unrelated things is so interesting that the only thing that comes to mind is the hatena symbol! We visited the shop to ask them why they combined the two!

Shoe repair as well as beer and coffee shops open!
About 2 minutes' walk from the Numadari Terrace shopping street. The KADO shoe repair & beer stop (hereafter KADO) is located on the corner of the intersection "Numadari Yotsukaku". Walking along the main street from the Kurinoki Bypass side, you will notice the stylish glass-walled shop. At the entrance is a logo with KADO painted on it. Open the glass door to enter!
Shunsuke Kojima, owner of the shop.
The owner, Mr Kojima, is at the counter. He greeted us with a warm smile and said, "Hello~". I asked him about it, and he told me that the shop is not only for shoe repairs, but also for beer and a café. I asked him if it was okay that I wasn't doing shoe repairs. I was relieved to hear that he was not a shoe repairer. Since I was driving, I ordered a café latte.
Menus vary depending on the time of year.
There is a blackboard in the shop and prices are written on it. Coffee is from 300 yen and café lattes from 350 yen. Craft beers are available from Swan Lake Porter 850 yen and Patagonia 1,200 yen. They also have seasonal and regional menus!
Amounts for shoe repairs along with drinks. Shoe cleaning from JPY 500, replacement of women's heels from JPY 900, men's heels from JPY 2,100. Other repairs can also be carried out. It's a good idea to ask for advice first.

When you go upstairs, you are greeted by a pair of cute slippers. You can see the bar counter on the ground floor from the second floor, and if you take a peek, you can see people chatting at the counter.

The second floor can be used as a rental space for workshops, exhibitions, pop-up stores, parties and meetings. When not in use, it can also be used as a café space for the general public. It can be used in a variety of ways!
Why combine shoe repair with craft beer?
When we asked about the combination of shoe repair and craft beer, which we were curious about, they said that it was because they wanted people to enjoy drinking craft beer or coffee while waiting for their shoes to be repaired.
There are also books on shoes in the shop..!
The owner, Kojima-san, used to work for a shoe repair company in Niigata City.
Since that time, he has seen customers killing time on their smartphones and other devices while waiting for repairs, and has wished that he could make the waiting time more enjoyable. Originally, Kojima himself liked craft beer, so he opened his own craft beer and shoe repair shop. Shoe repairs can be completed in as little as five to 20 minutes, depending on the item. In the meantime, she wants people to have a good time while drinking their favourite beverage and talking to the owner and the people in the shop.
There was a workshop right next to the space where they could take a break.
Shoe repair shops have an image of being a place where people who wear high-end shoes for a long time go, but not all of them are necessarily like that. Many people come to the shop because they are attached to their shoes and want to wear them for a long time, or because they fit their foot size and they want to keep wearing them. It is true that when I buy a new pair of pumps, it takes me a long time to find the right size. And although I bought them, my feet hurt so much that I stopped wearing them... It's hard to find the shoes you want, isn't it? Then, one of the options is to keep wearing them while they are being repaired!
Shoe care products are also available.
Kado Shoe Repair & Beer Stop is located on the corner of Numadari, where there is an intersection. As the name suggests, it is located in a place where people come and go. Therefore, the owner says that he wants the shop to be a place where people, things and events meet. There is a bus stop a few steps outside the shop that goes to the front of the station. A little drink before you go out for a drink, or a last drink after you have finished drinking. Because the space is not large, it is easy for customers to have a conversation with each other. They hope that the corner will become a place where people can connect with each other.
The KADO shoe repair & beer stop will be used as a place for shoe repair, drinks and coffee, as well as for events! Check out our website, Facebook and Instagram for the latest data!
