I visited the Nichiren Shu Kakudasan Myokoji Temple, located at the foot of scenic Mt Kakudasan. This temple holds a Buddhist service every morning at 7.30 am, which is open to everyone.
When you park your car in the large car park, you see a beautiful garden in front of you!
On this day, a friend of mine wore 'ippon geta' purchased from Kobayashi Footwear Store in Maki. The clogs look great in the splendid garden!
There is also a three-storey pagoda on the National Register of Tangible Cultural Property.
Further in, the main hall comes into view.
We enter from this building and tell them that we would like to see the work. The person in charge that day was a very nice lady who led us to the back of the building and said 'please come in'.
The building is also magnificent..!
As we listened to the priest's chanting, we too were able to unify our spirit. After about 30 minutes, the time for the service was over and we were then free to visit the main hall. Thank you very much for your kindness throughout, even though it was the first time for us to participate!
Spending time in the temple early in the morning gives you the feeling that you can start the day with a clean slate. They also hold regular events, so be sure to check out their website!
