Directly connected to Arai PA on the Joshinetsu Expressway, Gohan Shokudo Misa is located in Highway Oasis.
I went there because I had heard that it was famous for its delicious miso ramen.
Roadside Station Arai is home to a variety of shops, including Italian restaurants, sushi restaurants and ramen shops. It is located in a corner of the road (very close to the Super Hotel).
The restaurant is a popular diner.
Here is the ramen menu. It covers a wide range of topics.
This is the popular miso ramen. It had a good amount of white miso, onions and garlic. Niigata is often known for its thick, rich flavour (which I also love), but this was a lot lighter than that. However, it had a good sweet flavour and I didn't feel it was lacking at all. The vegetables are plentiful, so I was satisfied.
Incidentally, this is the 'half ball' size, but in terms of volume, you could think of it as the 'normal' size of a regular ramen restaurant. The miso ramen itself does not have any grittiness, so I have the impression that the "normal" size would have been fine (data of the author: 29 years old at the time of writing, male, single, living in Niigata City, medium build, medium height).
My friend ordered the Vegetable Ramen. This is also a 'half ball' size. It was full of vegetables. I really felt that the more vegetables, the better the sweetness.
The menu is also full of menus at the back of the restaurant. Among them we found 'pork miso soup'.
We talked about how pork miso soup at a restaurant that serves good miso ramen is absolutely delicious." At ¥530, it must be quite hearty. Next time I come here, I want to order this.
Set meals and a la carte dishes are also available. Great for hungry drivers. Beware of drowsiness... (laughs).
summary
The area is also close to Nagano Prefecture, so it seems to have many fans there, and cars with "Nagano" plates were also parked here and there. I think there are people who come to Oita not only for business, but also for the sake of visiting here. As the name "Highway Oasis" implies, it is a well-developed rest spot, with about 15 shops lined up in a row, which is quite spectacular. Why not drop in once when driving on the Joshin-etsu Expressway?
