Our café Irohani-do is located 30 seconds' walk from Uchino Station, Nishi-ku, Niigata City. The ground floor is a bookshop called Tsuruhashi Books, so you can relax and read the book you have just bought in the upstairs café.
There are also many books and picture books in the shop, so even if you go empty-handed, you can enjoy a relaxing time as much as you want. There are many Irohani-do fans around me, and they all say 'I can relax more than at home! They all say 'I can relax more than at home! It's true!
As well as bookshelves, picture books and toys are displayed here and there.
You can enjoy the view of the inner field and the time that passes slowly while reading a book.
There are also hammocks in the shop! Some people go to the shop to sleep," says Sakano, the manager of Irohani-do. Many people come to the shop just to talk to Mr Sakano. I am one of them!
What I love most about Irohani-do are the tinned toys that are tucked away here and there in the shop. I asked Mr Sakano to let me play with each one. And then, how lovely, how lovely their movements are! Raging pigs!

This is a tinny monkey that spins once. The wisdom of the ancients in inventing these toys is truly amazing. Looking at the camera is my best friend Yappi (who I happened to meet at Irohani-do).

I gathered up all the Tiniki toys in the shop and moved them around as much as I could. It's all gone beyond my imagination, but it's lovely, lovely, lovely!

You can sleep, read, play with tinny toys, talk with Mr Sakano or just relax and do nothing. Irohani-do has become an oasis for the people of Uchino, and some people come all the way from outside the prefecture to visit.
They have probably the best collection of flip books in Niigata (!). Please come and have a look. I recommend it!
