Golden Week is over. The other day, cherry blossoms were declared to have bloomed in Kushiro, Hokkaido, and there is actually a place on Sado Island where you can see cherry blossoms during the consecutive holidays. The Senryu Cherry Blossoms are located at the Myoken Campsite near Hakuundai on the Osado Skyline.

I heard that this weekend might be the last time to see this year's Senryu cherry blossoms, so I hurried up to Myoken. Even though we were going up, we could still drive to the Myoken campsite. From Kanai, go in the direction of the Osado Skyline, pass Hakuundai and walk for 1 to 2 minutes. The entrance is a little difficult to find, but as soon as you park your car and walk, you will see a huge cherry tree.

This is a mountain cherry tree located 890 m above sea level. Its appearance is different from the Someiyoshino cherry trees we usually see on the plains, and gives a sense of strength and flexibility. The flowers had already started to fall, but we still managed to see beautiful cherry blossoms.

On this day, Sado was also clear on the plains, but the tops of the mountains were inexplicably overcast. After passing Hakuundae, the area was shrouded in white mist, the air was cold and a rather strong wind blew from time to time. Even in such conditions, the Senryu cherry trees were blooming strongly. And the white mist that was hanging around the area created a fantastic atmosphere.

Next year during Golden Week, please visit Sado and Myouki to see the magnificent cherry blossoms, which cannot be seen on the plains.
