The Honmachi shopping arcade is a place in Niigata City that retains a 'market' atmosphere, which is now all too rare.
The "Fresh Honcho" area, around the 12th and 13th streets, is one of the most retro areas in the city. It is a fun area to wander around and you can often see people walking around taking photos. It is also an interesting area where various collaborative events with local students and film shootings take place.

Sea of Japan direction) to the top (Kami. I wandered around for about 30 minutes from the bottom (Shimo, towards the Sea of Japan) to the top (Kami, towards Hakusan Shrine) and found more shops than I expected. I had an image of a 'market' ahead of me, so I was somewhat surprised to find a body-shop, an architectural office and even a 100 yen shop. It's a bit far from the Uehonmachi and Furumachi areas, so it's a shopping street with a unique atmosphere and atmosphere. I enjoyed communicating with the locals and I will try to cut out various angles of this area and write an article about it!
