I miraculously came across a large viewing platform at Saiseiji Temple, which boasts the best scenery in the Hokuriku region. When I was casually driving along the coast, I saw a large sign saying 'Saiseiji'... I thought that if it was so large, there must be something there, so I went there!
どーん!見てください、この自信!北陸随一!遠くからはこう見えます。すぐにのぼってもよかったのですが、その前に西生寺を先に散歩して見ることにしました。
This is where the car park is located. There is a carefully written route, so I followed it to explore the area.
This is the 'Stone God'. It says that this rock, which used to have an angry stone face, has now been replaced by a calm and mild stone face. Amazing...
This is the main hall! Dooo! Majesty!
In the distance you can see...
Huge stone statues! Also magnificent!
Right next to it, there is something called 'the merit of the water-splashed sandals'. It is said that if you pour water on these sandals, your feet will become stronger!
After a short walk, it is time to go to the most scenic spot in the Hokuriku region. If you look closely at the signboard, you will see that it says: "Niigata Prefecture's 100 most scenic spots, No. 8". The best in the Hokuriku region and the eighth most scenic spot in Niigata! Without going into details, there are many rankings in this world!
Up the stairs...
Oooooh...?
Sea-ny-ny-ny-ny-ny: !!!!!!
A little bit of Yuuhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii !!!!!
Panoramic view of the Sea of JapanOohohoho!!!!!
This must be beautiful on a sunny day... Unfortunately, due to the cloudy weather and my lack of photographic skills, I am sorry that I cannot give you a clear picture of the actual landscape. I am sure that if there were two lovers here, they could stay for hours. I, without a girlfriend, left as soon as I could!
After all, this is Niigata Prefecture, and I am sure I am not the only one who feels at home when looking out over the Sea of Japan. Finding your own favourite spot will be an interesting journey, so please take a drive and stop off at various places. And if you find a great place, please let us know!
